Basketball Game Preview: William Penn Bearcats vs. Northeastern Bobcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the William Penn Bearcats take on the Northeastern Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday... Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

William Penn is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell 93-86 to Central York on Wednesday. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Northeastern can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They took down New Oxford 59-40.

William Penn better keep an eye on Lauralye Kennedy. She was instrumental in Northeastern's win, putting up 24 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kennedy has scored at least a third of Northeastern's points. Another player making a difference was Leah Himes, who posted nine points.

Northeastern's win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for William Penn, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

William Penn skirted past Northeastern 40-38 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for William Penn since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
