Baseball Game Preview: Walker Wolverines vs. Galloway Scots

The Walker Wolverines will head out on the road to challenge the Galloway Scots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Walker's victory against Landmark Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Walker came out on top in a nail-biter against Landmark Christian on Thursday, sneaking past 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the War Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Brendan Finger was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Walker is 4-1 when Finger posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-9 otherwise. Bennett Wright also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Walker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Galloway hadn't done well against St. Francis recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Galloway sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over St. Francis. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Scots have posted since February 19, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Tucker Happel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Joaquin Mon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Walker pushed their record up to 8-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Galloway, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.
