Basketball Game Preview: Live Oak Lions vs. Quincy Trojans

The Live Oak Lions will head out to challenge the Quincy Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Live Oak's tournament run continued when they took on Rio Vista on Saturday. Live Oak fell 44-32 to Rio Vista.

Meanwhile, Quincy waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They snuck past the Tigers with a 29-23 win. The 29-point effort marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Live Oak better focus on containing Shelby Nussle and Skylar McCarthy as the pair were huge in Quincy's win. Nussle posted eight points along with 16 boards and six blocks, while McCarthy earned eight points along with 15 boards and three steals. McCarthy is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season.

Quincy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Live Oak's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Quincy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Live Oak was dealt a bruising 58-25 defeat at the hands of Quincy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Live Oak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
