Ethen Knox of Oil City (Pa.) is high school football's national leader in rushing yardage with 2,513 yards on the year, according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior is believed to be the only player in history to notch five 400-yard rushing performances in one season.

After being held under 100 yards two weeks ago, Knox responded with a 409-yard, five-touchdown performance on 53 carries in a win over Hollidaysburg last weekend.

Averaging 10.1 yards a carry, Knox posted a season-high 445 yards rushing in a 52-20 win over North East Sept. 9 and has crossed the goal line 29 times this fall.

Sitting 347 yards behind Knox is Raton (N.M.) senior Cayden Walton, who now has 2,166 yards after carrying the ball 15 times for 332 yards and five scores in a 42-7 win over West Las Vegas last Saturday. The 5-9, 195-pound senior has rushed for 215 or more yards in each of Raton's eight games this fall.

Connor Smith of Gibsonburg (Ohio) has run for 2,146 yards this fall and stands in at No. 3 this week after gaining 194 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 31 carries in a 29-26 win over Margaretta over the weekend.
