Baseball Recap: Althoff Catholic Crusaders vs. St. Louis Homeschool Patriots
Althoff Catholic had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-13 to make it ten. They lost 12-6 to the St. Louis Homeschool Patriots. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Carter Hansley and Tyler Birdsong did some serious damage despite the final result: Hansley went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Birdsong went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That triple was Hansley's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Pollock, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
As for St. Louis Homeschool, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Althoff Catholic will venture away from home to take on Litchfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Louis Homeschool, they will head out to face off against Granite City at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.09 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
