Football Recap: Dighton Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Dighton had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Rawlins County Buffaloes, falling 46-0. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buffaloes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Westin Johnson threw for 53 yards on four of 12 attempts. Colin Conroy was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Dominique Paz and Austin Chumley. Paz rushed for 132 yards and two scores on only 11 carries while Chumley rushed for 107 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries. The dominant performance also gave Chumley a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Dighton is set to square off against their familiar foe Decatur Community on Friday. Meanwhile, Rawlins County will challenge rival Greeley County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
