Nelson, the 5-foot-10, 178-pound senior quarterback amassed a state-record total offense of 606 yards and accounted for seven touchdowns as Logan (Utah) defeated Bountiful (Utah), 59-30, in the Class 4A state semifinals.

He completed 27 of 38 passes for 417 yards and five touchdowns, while running 25 times for another 189 yards and two touchdowns. The Grizzlies' offense was so potent that they were forced to punt just one time, at the end of the first quarter.

Nelson, who has committed to Utah State University, showed his toughness on one particular play when he broke three tackles - making a reverse spin to avoid the last hit - and then fired an 18-yard touchdown strike.
