Basketball Recap: Hilmar Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ava Stivers and Emma Gomes

Hilmar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 32-30 heartbreaker at the hands of the Orestimba Warriors. The Yellowjackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 33-30.

Hilmar's loss came despite strong showings from Emma Gomes and Ava Stivers. Gomes posted nine points and five rebounds, while Stivers had six points in addition to ten boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Stivers a new career-high in rebounds.

Among those leading the charge was Olivia Gray, who scored 12 points.

Hilmar's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Orestimba, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Hughson the next time they take the court. Orestimba will host Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Hilmar will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
