Community has gone 8-1 against Mark Twain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Mark Twain will be up against a hot Community team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Trojans blew past Canton 9-3 on Saturday.
Jocelyn Curtis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Curtis was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Schafer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Kaytlynn Arens was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mark Twain). They never let Wellsville-Middletown get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Thursday. Mark Twain has beaten Wellsville-Middletown the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Wellsville-Middletown has come to flipping the script.
Like Community, Mark Twain also got a great game from a two-way player: Maylie Boling. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Boling was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emmy Lane was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Ella Moss, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Mark Twain's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Community, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
