Soccer Game Preview: Calhoun vs. Northwest Whitfield

Calhoun is 0-9 against Northwest Whitfield since February of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Calhoun Yellow Jackets will take on the Northwest Whitfield Bruins at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Calhoun's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Ridgeland 6-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Yellow Jackets needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Meanwhile, Northwest Whitfield put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Woodland. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northwest Whitfield pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four games. As for Calhoun, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Calhoun suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Northwest Whitfield in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Calhoun avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
