Baseball Recap: Spalding Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

While Spalding didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Sandy Creek Patriots 10-4 on Thursday. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Dashan Gilbert was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Spalding is 5-1 when Gilbert posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Jaden Miller also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Spalding's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.2 hits in those games compared to only 5.5 in the others. As for Sandy Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sandy Creek beat Spalding by a score of 18-12 on Friday.
