Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northside, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Sumter County 15-0 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Caden Nelson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Northside's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-15 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ellijah Rozier, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Nelson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Northside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Thomas County Central's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-14. As for Northside, their record now sits at 5-16.
