Basketball Recap: Chester Piles Up the Points Against Penn Wood

Chester won the last time they faced Penn Wood and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chester Clippers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Penn Wood Patriots 68-34. The Clippers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 27 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chester to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'Mya Muhammad, who went 12-for-17 on her way to 36 points and three steals. Muhammad is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayana Vann, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds.

Chester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Penn Wood still got an impressive performance from Elisia Lawrence, who went 8-for-18 en route to 19 points in addition to eight steals and five boards. With that strong performance, Lawrence is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Jaylah Kennedy, who posted seven points along with three steals and three blocks.

Chester has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points over those games. As for Penn Wood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.

Chester didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-29 win against Renaissance Academy on the 6th. As for Penn Wood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 39-38 victory against Interboro on the 6th.
