Football Recap: Plaquemine Picks Up 12th Consecutive Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Plaquemine had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down the Cecilia Bulldogs 47-28. The victory was familiar territory for the Green Devils, who have now won 12 matchups in a row.

Spencer Collins had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 250 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Those 250 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Plaquemine also got help from Raiance Williby, who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Plaquemine was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Another reason for the win was Plaquemine's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cameron Rogers, Cameron Ricard, and Roderick Bingham, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Plaquemine's record is now 12-1. As for Cecilia, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

Looking ahead, Plaquemine will square off against North DeSoto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Green Devils will need to watch out since the Griffins have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Cecilia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
