Recap: Orangewood Academy Spartans vs. Fairmont Prep Huskies
The Orangewood Academy Spartans's and the Fairmont Prep Huskies's matchup on Thursday was close at halftime, but the Orangewood Academy Spartans turned on the heat in the second half with 42 points. Orangewood Academy blew past Fairmont Prep 63-41. Orangewood Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Orangewood Academy to victory were Maria Mejia and Vivian Grenald. Mejia scored 15 points, while Grenald scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vicky Om, who scored nine points.
Orangewood Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Fairmont Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orangewood Academy will take on Whitney at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Whitney will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Orangewood Academy is ranked 36th). As for Fairmont Prep, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Capistrano Valley Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th.
