Baseball Recap: DePaul Catholic Takes a Loss

DePaul Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the NV - Old Tappan Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 4-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2017.

DePaul Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for NV - Old Tappan, they pushed their record up to 19-5-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road.

DePaul Catholic and NV - Old Tappan should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Spartans will take on Lyndhurst at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (12 vs. 198). Meanwhile, NV - Old Tappan (ranked 28th) will meet Ramsey (ranked 92nd) at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
