Softball Recap: Centennial Broncos vs. Lexington Minutemen
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kearney Catholic, Centennial was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Lexington Minutemen. That's more bragging rights for the Broncos, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Riley Ziegler made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024.
In other batting news, Nya Fischer was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Paityn Scheele was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
