Softball Recap: Centennial Wins Going Away Against Lexington

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kearney Catholic, Centennial was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Lexington Minutemen. That's more bragging rights for the Broncos, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Riley Ziegler made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024.

In other batting news, Nya Fischer was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Paityn Scheele was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Centennial's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Lexington, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Centennial will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Blue River at 9:00 a.m. Centennial's pitcher better be ready for this one: Blue River has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Lexington, they have already played their next game, a 16-0 loss against Kearney Catholic on the 25th.
