Football Game Preview: Phillipsburg Panthers vs. Minneapolis Lions

The Phillipsburg Panthers will face off against the Minneapolis Lions on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Phillipsburg put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They breezed past Norton to the tune of 55-0. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Phillipsburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaid Schwenn, who rushed for 98 yards and one score. Tanner Horinek was another key back, rushing for 60 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Phillipsburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 365 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Minneapolis was just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 37-36 to Russell. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Minneapolis now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Phillipsburg, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Phillipsburg strolled past Minneapolis in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 36-21. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
