Basketball Recap: Culver City Takes a Loss

Culver City and El Camino Real squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Culver City had to settle for second. They lost 65-45 to the El Camino Real Royals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-41 back in December of 2024.

Leading El Camino Real to victory were Laila Bowens and Amirah Smith. Bowens almost dropped a triple-double with 22 points, 11 boards, and nine steals, while Smith almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Bowens a new career-high in field goal percentage (64%). Kayleigh Ewell was another key player, putting up eight points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Culver City's loss dropped their record down to 21-10. As for El Camino Real, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-14.

Culver City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for El Camino Real, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-47 victory against Garfield on the 8th.
