Basketball Recap: Aiden Hohenwarter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Escalon over Ripon

After flying high against Ripon Christian last Tuesday, Escalon came back down to earth. The Escalon Cougars fell just short of the Ripon Indians by a score of 43-40 on Thursday. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 35-29.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aiden Hohenwarter, who posted 13 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Madi Babasa, who scored 13 points and three steals.

Among those leading the charge was Danika Escola, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Lehmkuhl, who earned nine points.

The defeat snapped Escalon's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-10 record. As for Ripon, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-9.

Escalon has already played their next contest, a 60-43 win against Orestimba on the 24th. As for Ripon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 29-22 victory against Hilmar on the 24th.
