Basketball Recap: Hughson Huskies vs. Ripon Indians
The Hughson Huskies had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They took down Ripon 50-33. Given Hughson's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Indians are ranked 768th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Madi Duron was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for 18 straight games. Kareena Kang was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Hughson is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Ripon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-17.
Hughson and the Cougars will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Escalon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Ripon, they will head out on the road to challenge the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
