Basketball Recap: Harmony Area Owls vs. Blacklick Valley Vikings

The Harmony Area Owls lost against the Blacklick Valley Vikings back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Harmony Area was beaten by the Vikings 72-22. Harmony Area was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-12.

Kaydence Killinger continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Blacklick Valley, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Killinger is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristin Szymusiak, who scored 12 points along with three steals.

Harmony Area's defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.5 points per game. As for Blacklick Valley, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.

Harmony Area will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Blacklick Valley, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Rams at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Turkeyfoot Valley Area will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 607th, while the Vikings are ranked 199th).
