Basketball Recap: Woodrow Wilson Takes a Loss

Woodrow Wilson suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 72-37 defeat at the hands of the Lakewood Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while the Lancers are ranked 125th).

Nyemah King was her usual excellent self, going 13 of 21 en route to 33 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals for Lakewood. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which King has scored at least a third of Lakewood's points. Another player making a difference was Amy Rubio, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals.

Woodrow Wilson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Lakewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Woodrow Wilson has already played their next contest, a 64-33 win against Compton on the 22nd. As for Lakewood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-23 victory against Cabrillo on the 22nd.
