Softball Recap: Westview Wolverines vs. Gretna Dragons

Westview dropped to 20-11 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 5-2 to the Gretna Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-5 defeat on Thursday.

As for Gretna, they pushed their record up to 27-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

For Gretna's part, Taelyn Rupiper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. Rupiper has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kenadie Barton was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. Elle Burrell was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

As of now, neither Westview nor Gretna have any future games scheduled.
