Dominion Christian is a perfect 4-0 against Cristo Rey Atlanta since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against Cristo Rey Atlanta at 4:30 p.m. Dominion Christian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.
On Thursday, Dominion Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Mt. Bethel Christian Academy. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.
Dominion Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Holdaway, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Cristo Rey Atlanta got themselves on the board against South Atlanta on Wednesday, but South Atlanta never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for Cristo Rey Atlanta, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Alonso Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Cristo Rey Atlanta is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 5-6 otherwise. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.
In other batting news, Cristo Rey Atlanta got a massive performance out of Collin Roberts, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Roberts is becoming a predictor of Cristo Rey Atlanta's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ethan Minor, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Cristo Rey Atlanta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Dominion Christian pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cristo Rey Atlanta, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
