Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Barron

Barron came out on top against Ashland on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. The Golden Bears blew past the Oredockers 12-2. This was a revenge game for the Golden Bears: when they faced off against the Oredockers back in April, they had to take a 13-5 defeat.

Glendon Thompson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Barron got a big performance out of Bryce Kittelson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kittelson has become a key player for the Golden Bears: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Troy McDonough was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for Barron, bringing their record up to 12-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Ashland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9.

Coming up, Barron will face off against Ladysmith at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lumberjacks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Golden Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ashland, they are taking a road trip to challenge Cumberland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
