Baseball Recap: Union County Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Union County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Maddox Patton, who went 4-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Union County's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Bentley Rich was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Union County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Union County now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
