The Northern Cambria Colts had to endure an eight-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Conemaugh Valley with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 52-38. Northern Cambria's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Conemaugh Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Penelope Reininger, who scored 15 points. Reininger scored a full 39.5% of Conemaugh Valley's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sarah Miller, who scored ten points.
Northern Cambria's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-5. As for Conemaugh Valley, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9.
Northern Cambria will be playing in front of their home fans against Marion Center at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Marion Center presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northern Cambria in Pennsylvania (Marion Center is ranked 49th, while Northern Cambria is ranked 526th). As for Conemaugh Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Blacklick Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Blacklick Valley is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.8 points per game.
