Basketball Recap: Leilani Quero Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Orange

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They snuck past the Orange Panthers with a 33-29 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Costa Mesa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leilani Quero led the charge by putting up nine points and five rebounds. Those five rebounds gave Quero a new career-high. Aaliyah Terry was another key player, posting nine points and seven rebounds.

Costa Mesa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

The win got Costa Mesa back to even at 5-5. As for Orange, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Costa Mesa will welcome Warren at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Orange, they will venture away from home to square off against Los Amigos at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
