Baseball Recap: Heyworth's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Heyworth took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Bloomington Central Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Saints 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Boston Katz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. Heyworth is 5-2 when Katz allows one or fewer earned runs, but 10-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Heyworth saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Mills, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Heyworth now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-22.

Looking ahead, Heyworth will challenge Yorkville Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, they will square off against Eureka at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
