Soccer Game Preview: Monrovia vs. South Pasadena

Friday just wasn't the day for Monrovia's offense. They fell just short of La Canada by a score of 1-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Spartans are ranked 62nd).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Pasadena, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Temple City 4-1 on Saturday.

South Pasadena hit Temple City with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Alice Rowley, Rose Vandevelde, Kennedy Chang, and Kaia Trainedes.

South Pasadena's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four matches. As for Monrovia, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1-1 and their overall record down to 8-4-3.

Monrovia skirted past South Pasadena 2-1 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monrovia since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
