The Suffield Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Windham Whippets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Suffield has four straight victories, Windham has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when Suffield challenged East Windsor on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 5-0 shutout.
The team relied heavily on James Nikolis, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Carson Zolciak also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Ellis RVT hit Windham with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Whippets fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-5.
Francisco Alvarado put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Alex Diaz-Guillen made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brandon Holman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Suffield's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Windham, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.
Everything went Suffield's way against Windham when the teams last played on Saturday, as Suffield made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
