Soccer Game Preview: Taft vs. Granada Hills Charter

Taft is 1-9 against Granada Hills Charter since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Taft Toreadors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders at 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Taft's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Camino Real on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Toreadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 708th, while the Royals are ranked 256th).

Meanwhile, Granada Hills Charter's and Birmingham's match on Wednesday was close at halftime, but Granada Hills Charter turned on the heat in the second half with five goals. Granada Hills Charter never let Birmingham onto the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Highlanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by three goals or more this season.

Granada Hills Charter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those ten matchups. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
