Baseball Game Preview: Murphysboro Red Devils vs. Nashville Hornets

The Murphysboro Red Devils will challenge the Nashville Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Murphysboro has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Nashville will come in with three straight wins.

DuQuoin hit Murphysboro with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to the Indians, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Red Devils have suffered against the Indians since May 26, 2021.

Murphysboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Stapel, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Nashville had just enough and edged out Benton 6-4 on Tuesday.

Nashville's victory bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Murphysboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-20.
