Basketball Game Preview: King City Mustangs vs. Pajaro Valley Grizzlies

The King City Mustangs will face off against the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. King City will be strutting in after a victory while Pajaro Valley will be coming in after a loss.

King City will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Seaside, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. King City blew past Seaside 51-15 on Thursday.

King City relied on the efforts of Crystal Paramo, who posted 11 points along with five boards and five steals, and Alizah Carrillo, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Carrillo a new career-high. Katia Slama was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

King City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Pajaro Valley lost to Pacific Collegiate at home by a 40-22 margin on Thursday. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

King City pushed their record up to 4-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Pajaro Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

King City couldn't quite finish off Pajaro Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 38-35. Can King City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
