Softball Recap: Auburn Snags Tenth Victory in Last 12 Games

Auburn lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Fairbury, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Jeffs on Tuesday. Considering the Bulldogs have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Addison Darnell, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Allen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Auburn is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Fairbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn will head out to face off against Southern/Diller-Odell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Auburn's pitchers better be ready for this one: Southern/Diller-Odell has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Fairbury, they will venture away from home to square off against Milford at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
