Baseball Game Preview: Creekside Seminoles vs. Hapeville Charter Hornets

The Creekside Seminoles are taking a road trip to square off against the Hapeville Charter Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Creekside came up short against Banneker on Tuesday, falling 14-8.

Tobias Stephens was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Stephens was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, TAKEEVIUS THORTON and KALEB NOEL did some serious damage despite the final result: THORTON scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while NOEL scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave NOEL a new career-high. Lawrence Wilder was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Creekside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Banneker only posted a batting average of .185.

Meanwhile, Hapeville Charter waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let Drew get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hornets yet this season.

A George was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. He also put up two hits, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was J Jimison, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Hapeville Charter's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Creekside, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Creekside came out on top in a nail-biter against Hapeville Charter when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 14-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for Creekside since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
