While Columbus's win against Baxter Springs wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Titans made off with a 15-14 victory over the Lions.

The critical scores for Columbus came from Gavin Depratt and Denver Hughes.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Columbus' defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Quinn Lloyd, Kash Smith, and Shade Schuberger, who each picked up one sack apiece. Columbus received some extra help from Hughes, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Columbus' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Baxter Springs, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Columbus is set to square off against their familiar foe Riverton on Friday. Meanwhile, Baxter Springs will challenge rival Frontenac at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while the Raiders will come in with three straight victories.
