Recap: Deer Lakes Lancers vs. Ligonier Valley Rams
The Deer Lakes Lancers were the 53-27 winner over the Ligonier Valley Rams when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Deer Lakes received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 58-43 to Ligonier Valley. Deer Lakes has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ligonier Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abby Springer, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, 14 rebounds, and ten steals. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for her. Lindsey Gaskey was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
Deer Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Ligonier Valley, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-6.
Deer Lakes will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Pleasant at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Pleasant presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Deer Lakes in Pennsylvania (Mt. Pleasant is ranked 215th, while Deer Lakes is ranked 535th). As for Ligonier Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Apollo Ridge at 7:15 p.m. Apollo Ridge comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
