Soccer Game Preview: Eastern vs. Goshen

Eastern will head out to square off against Goshen at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastern has three straight victories, Goshen has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

If Goshen heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Eastern took over last week. The Warriors' defense stepped up to hand McClain a 3-0 shutout on Saturday. Considering Eastern have won seven matches by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit McClain with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jayse Riggs, Cayden Wills, and Kayne Dotson.

Meanwhile, Goshen fell victim to West Clermont and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against Wolves, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Goshen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 417th, while West Clermont are ranked 186th).

Eastern's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Goshen, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9-2.

Eastern beat Goshen 3-1 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
