Football Recap: Russell Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Russell won the last time they faced Plainville and things went their way on Friday too. The Broncos put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 28-6 victory. With the Broncos ahead 20-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Russell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Trey Zorn out in front who threw for 352 yards and three TDs while completing 72% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Zorn a new career-high in passer rating (153.8). Sam Thielen was Zorn's top target, picking up 135 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The victory (which was Russell's fourth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.5 points on average over those games. As for Plainville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russell will welcome Larned at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Plainville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Smith Center on Friday.
