Baseball Recap: Curie Comes Up Short

Curie had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 8-8-1 to make it five. They lost 16-1 to the St. Rita Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Condors have suffered since April 11th.

Curie saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angel Amador, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. That double was Amador's first of the season.

As for St. Rita, their win bumped their record up to 19-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.

On St. Rita's side, Anthony Petry looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Petry a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Joe Camer was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ryan Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Curie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Rita, they will head out to square off against Chicago Mt. Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Caravan have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
