Basketball Recap: Poly Takes a Loss

After flying high against Norte Vista last Saturday, Poly came back down to earth. The contest between the Poly Bears and the Valley View Eagles didn't end well, with the Poly Bears falling 60-46. The Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Poly saw an underclassman step up: freshman Abby Folsom went 7 for 16 on her way to 20 points. Folsom's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Murray, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Valley View had a senior duo take command as Mason Long scored 20 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds and Tiana Washington went 5 of 10 en route to 15 points along with seven assists and five boards. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for Washington. Jada Booten was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds.

Poly's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Valley View, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Poly has already played their next game, a 63-38 loss against Heritage on the 16th. As for Valley View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-33 victory against Paloma Valley on the 16th.
