Basketball Recap: Lincoln Triumphs

Lincoln saw some tournament action on Monday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 43-42 victory over the St. Mary's Rams.

It was another big night for Asia Darcuiel, who posted 19 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last four times she's played. A'Leyah Wilson was another key player, putting up seven points along with five boards and three steals.

St. Mary's lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Amani Rafiq, who scored 11 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Evelini Smith, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for St. Mary's, their record is now 10-9.

Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 83-22 win against Mission Bay on the 21st. As for St. Mary's, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-73 loss against Lincoln on the 21st.
