Recap: Gregori Jaguars vs. Enochs Eagles
The Gregori Jaguars can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They breezed by Enochs on the road to the tune of 60-33. The score was close at the half, but Gregori pulled away in the second half with 42 points.
Gregori's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alanah Lopez, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Lopez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Veronica Whitten, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and six assists.
Enochs' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Ramsay, who scored five points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Gurleen Gill, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Enochs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. This was only their 13th loss (out of 18 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Gregori's win bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Enochs, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
Gregori will be playing at home against Modesto at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Modesto is coming into the matchup with four straight losses on the road, meaning Gregori will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Enochs, they will take on Pitman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Enochs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Monday.
