Softball Recap: Freeman Wins Going Away Against Wilber-Clatonia

Freeman was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wilber-Clatonia on Saturday. The Falcons blew past the Wolverines 14-0. Considering the Falcons have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Sydney Lenners, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hunter Haner, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Freeman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive games.

Freeman is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wilber-Clatonia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Looking ahead, Freeman will square off against Southern/Diller-Odell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern/Diller-Odell has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.92 runs per game on average), something Freeman will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wilber-Clatonia, they will host Blue River at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
