League recap: Thompson's hitting boosts Gilmer

7A-AAAA league recap: 3/20/13

Sawyer Thompson had the hottest bat in 7A-AAAA this week, racking up a .417 average, two home runs and seven RBIs. Gilmer compiled a record of 3-0 in that time.

Marlen Hensley was the best pitcher in the league this week, leading the Bobcats. Over the past week, he racked up one win and 11 strikeouts.

Gilmer's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 23 hits and five walks, both of which led the league.

The highest batting average in the league this week belonged to the Bobcats' Dalton Stephens, who churned out five hits in 11 at bats for a .455 average. He's batting .304 on the year, which puts him at ninth in the league. Stephens has seven hits total this season.

Gilmer's Hensley led the league in strikeouts this week with 11. He's first in the league with 22 total strikeouts.



Hensley led the Bobcats to a win on March 13, as he notched 11 strikeouts to beat Gordon Central, 14-0. He gave up three hits and zero runs over five innings of work.
