Basketball Recap: Granada Comes Up Short

Granada was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the San Leandro Pirates. The Matadors lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in December of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 71-43 score last time.

It was another big night for Ravyn Martin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds for San Leandro. Martin is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Callie Turner, who posted nine points and three steals.

Granada's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for San Leandro, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granada and Northgate will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for San Leandro, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Washington at 7:00 p.m.
