Basketball Recap: Firebaugh Skates Past Riverdale with Ease

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Firebaugh had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 70-28 victory over the Riverdale Cowboys. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Riverdale still got an impressive performance from Karen Ayala, who posted 16 points. That's the most points Ayala has posted since back in December of 2024.

Firebaugh is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points over those games. As for Riverdale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season.

Looking ahead, Firebaugh will take on Desert at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Firebaugh's defense has only allowed 27.4 points per game this season, so Desert's offense will have their work cut out for them. Riverdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
