Recap: Foothill Mustangs vs. Florin Panthers
In what's become a running theme this season, the Foothill Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Florin with a sharp 54-31 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-11.
Foothill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zeniah Thompson, who scored 24 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Thompson has scored at least a third of Foothill's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaliyah Benjamin-Wade, who scored 15 points.
Despite the loss, Florin saw an underclassman step up: Zavanna Payne dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Payne has scored all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Foothill and bumps their season record up to 9-11. As for Florin, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-19.
Foothill will be playing at home against the Nighthawks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Florin, they will head out on the road to square off against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
